Walking & climbing in Skye

Whether your interests lie in strenuous climbing or hill-walking, a shore line stroll, in moor-land rambling or harbour-side ambling….Red Moon offers a luxurious floating base for visiting the most stunning locations on Skye, the Small Isles and the mainland coast  north and south of Lochalsh.

Whatever the level of your ability, agility or ambition – you are truly spoilt for choice.

On Skye, head for the jagged peaks of the Cuillin or, from our anchorage in Loch Eishort, step back into history through the ruins of the coastal villages of Boreraig and Suisnish, forcibly emptied during the Clearances; visit the Old Man of Storr from Portree or, further afield using local transport, go walking with dinosaurs (or at least, their footprints at low tide) on the beach at An Corran, Staffin….

On nearby, quiet Raasay, enjoy the network of paths across the island and hike to Dun Caan.

In Lochalsh, take the classic ridge walk of the Five Sisters of Kintail, view Eilean Donan castle from the shore of Loch Duich, follow in Gavin Maxwell’s footsteps at Sandaig or explore Plockton’s crags and coral beach….

So much to see, so little time! If you like we can drop you off at one point (with an extremely good packed lunch!) and pick you up elsewhere at the end of the day, to relax those weary muscles aboard with a well-earned drink as a gourmet supper is prepared…
